White and Dark Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Recipe courtesy Suzanne Zimmer-Lowery
Makes 16
Ingredients:
16 large, firm, but ripe strawberries (with stems works best)
8 ounces semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate, in pieces
6 ounces white chocolate, in pieces
Directions:
Gently wash and thoroughly dry the strawberries.
In the microwave, at 20 second intervals, or over a double boiler, slowly melt all but one of the dark chocolate pieces, stirring often. When smooth, stir the remaining piece in until melted.
Grab each strawberry by the stem or leaves and dip almost to the top in the melted chocolate. Let any excess drip off. Place the covered strawberries on a sheet pan lined with waxed paper.
Follow the same melting procedure for the white chocolate. Spoon the melted chocolate into a small plastic zip-lock bag and with scissors, snip off small portion of one of the corners. Drizzle the white chocolate in stripes over the dark chocolate.
Let the berries air dry or refrigerate just until firm.
